London, England - Westminster Abbey Part 2 - August 2024

Here is a continuation of a sampling of my Westminster Abbey photos. The first several are with my good camera, but there are a few covert ones that I had to take with my phone. Not that I suggest doing that.

Colorful heraldic banners hang in a grand, ornate cathedral with stained glass windows. The warm glow creates a majestic, historic atmosphere.
I hope you like this well-lit transept as much as I did, because you're going to see several different angles of it. I love the light and the fan ceiling. I've debated using one of these in this series for Iowa State Fair Photo Salon, but I'm not sure if they'd be a good fit.

Sunny cathedral interior with ornate carvings and stained glass windows. Colorful heraldic banners hang, casting glowing reflections.
This side is pretty amazing with the flags and the sun flare. I could dehaze it some, but I don't want to.

Sunlight filters through ornate stained glass windows in a cathedral interior. Colorful banners hang below a detailed, vaulted ceiling.
This sort of combines the two above.

Colorful banners hanging in a large cathedral with intricate vaulted ceilings and vibrant stained-glass windows, creating a majestic atmosphere.
I really like this in a pano, but not sure if it works as well?

A large, ornate statue of a bearded man and child in a sunlit medieval-style room with intricate arched windows and carved wood details.
The other end of the transept. I love this little archangel just peering at you. I think he needs to eat a sandwich.
Bronze statue of a robed figure with a serene face and clasped hands. Blurred person in white cap in the background. Warm lighting.
I don't remember whose grave this is. I think it was a king or something; most of them were kings or queens. I'm pretty sure it was someone important, or else I wouldn't have taken a photo.

Gothic architecture of Westminster Abbey with intricate arches and spires, set against a backdrop of lush green trees on a sunny day.
The rosette window on the front of the Abbey is a lot more impressive from the outside when the sun is shining on it.

Ornate ceiling with gold details above a carved wooden screen. A marble statue lies below, framed by a decorative archway in a historical setting.
A crummy phone photo, but this is one angle of Mary, Queen of the Scots' tomb. The little flowers in the canopy are all Scottish thistles, even though they sort of look like spray nozzles from here.

Ornate cathedral interior with a sculpted tomb in the foreground. Tall arched windows and a patterned ceiling create a serene atmosphere.
Another angle of Mary, with the windows behind it.

A royal coronation throne with a red canopy sits on a checkered floor in an historic room. Statues and stained glass windows adorn the background.
This is the Coronation Chair. There is an older one that is kept upstairs in that Abbey Attic (or whatever it's called) that I mentioned in the previous post, but this is the current one that was used by both King Charles and previously by Queen Elizabeth II. (Another phone photo.)

Young woman sits on a step near ornate iron gates in a gothic cathedral. She's smiling, wearing glasses and a black shirt with pink text.
Phone photo of A and I bumming in the Cloisters.

Open medieval-style wooden door with floral patterns leads to a room with ornate details and wooden beams. People walk in the background.
This is the entry to the Abbey Attic. It is the last photo I took with my good camera until we went back downstairs, as photos were forbidden.

My name is Angie.  I find aesthetically "decent" and normal to be largely boring.  I am really lucky to get to spend time behind my camera doing all kinds of fun things, and also super-really annoying my kids by taking a million photos of them.
