Pismo Beach - June 2022 - Part 1

On our way back to LA from visiting J's family (see related post), we drove along the much more scenic Pacific Coast Highway. It was 105+ degrees in most of California at the time, so the ocean breeze was nice when we could get out of the car to stretch our legs and check out the scenery:

Seagulls fly in formation over the Pacific coast.
Seagulls are beautiful right up until they're dive-bombing you to steal your Wienerschnitzel on Pier 39.

As the PCH drive takes longer than going through the California armpit, we stopped about halfway through to stay overnight at Pismo Beach. J specifically got us a hotel room right on the ocean. It was absolutely beautiful - here are a few photos from the hotel grounds.

Fog rolls on the Pacific Ocean in Pismo Beach, California.
Let me explain the fog. While it was 105 outside of the Pismo area, the city lives in a little valley next to the ocean, so it was about 30 degrees cooler. There was foggy mist everywhere.

Seagulls fly around a gazebo in Pismo Beach, California.
The view from our hotel room. There was a little bit of a Hitchcock vibe. Elegant, but like maybe the birds would try to murder you in a phone booth.

A seagull soars over an ocean waterline.
Slightly different angle of the view from before, but the earlier one was from my phone.

A seagull has a drop of water on its beak.
See? You can't tell me there's not malice in those eyes.

The next part of this series will include some photos taken at the pier.
