Pufferbilly Days Photo Contest - 2021

Updated: Oct 20, 2024

A friend of mine runs the photo contest for Pufferbilly Days each year, located in Boone, Iowa. It's a fun contest, so I've had fun entering twice - once in 2021 and once in 2022. More information on why I haven't entered since then on the 2022 post (see related).

Without further ado. I submitted four photos in a variety of categories, and here are the results. All photos entered are displayed in the Pufferbilly Days contest, so no rejections.

1st Place - Color Nature

Bumblebee on a dying purple wildflower.
I don't remember what I called this. But it got 1st Place - Color Nature. I like an imperfect flower very much, because it makes the photo more interesting.

1st Place - Photojournalism

Chick-Fil-A worker in a mask and gloves during COVID-19 pandemic.
Title: Pandemic Chicken. 1st Place - Photojournalism. It is worth noting that it was the only entry in the Photojournalism category, so this is something of a low bar.

3rd Place - Nature

A dragonfly.
3rd Place - Nature. This photo just needed ore going on, or a different angle, or something. I don't know.

There was one entry that did not receive an award, but I'm fine with that. I wish that I'd had a narrower aperture and the daddy long legs were more in focus, it would have been a more interesting shot.

No place - Color Nature:

A fly on a yellow flower, with a spider coming up from behind.
Nature is creepy and it's so delightful.

On to Pufferbilly 2022!
